Important Documents Related to Hillsborough tragedy released


Relatives of 96 victims of Hillsborough tragedy finally had the opportunity to gather important documents related to the incident on Wednesday (12/09/2012) this.

These documents are the result of investigations conducted by the Hillsborough Independent Panel (HIP), a special commission that has the authority to investigate the tragedy and established since 2010.

Now, after investigating about 80 organizations, which include among government institutions, local police, and the city council, HIP has been getting all the files that are expected to reveal the truth behind the tragedy.

The document, among others, states that there are local police negligence in anticipation of the growing number of spectators exploded.

And includes a document that indicates that the South Yorkshire Police in Sheffield with the organizers of the match had falsified news reports show.

Margaret Aspinall, chairman of the Hillsborough Family Support Group, call HIP's success as a justice for this is awaited.

"This is for 23 years championed by the families of the victims. Without truth, you will never get justice," said the 65-year woman, quoted in the Guardian.

Hillsborough tragedy occurred when the party convening the FA Cup semi-final between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest at Hillsborough Stadium, home of Sheffield Wednesday on 15 April 1989.

Initially, the game runs smoothly, but ended up with a nightmare when thousands of spectators - which is dominated by Liverpool supporters -, burst into, precisely to the stands Leppings Lane, where they watch.

The capacity of the stadium is no longer sufficient to make people coincide, squeezed, and many were trampled. 730 people were injured in the stadium and 36 injured outside the stadium. 96 killed, everything Liverpudlian, including a cousin of Steven Gerrard, who was then four years old, Jon-Paul Gilhooley.
