Japan's Women's World Cup Third Place U-20 in 2012

Women's World Cup U-20 in 2012, Japan, managed to ensure themselves into third place after a 2-1 win over Nigeria on Saturday (8/9). Two goals from Tanaka and Yoko Nishikawa Asuka host make fans who packed the National Stadium Tokyo partying.

Japan did not start the game well. They almost left behind in the early minutes when a free kick players Nigeria, Desire Oparanozie, from the left side of goalkeeper Sakiko Ikeda made off step. Lucky ball just hit the crossbar and bounced to safety.

Almost conceded making Japanese morale increased. Japan finally managed to open the scoring after a shot from Yoko Tanaka was able to face goalkeeper Ibubeleye Whyte. Tanaka is a sixth goal of the tournament.

Left behind one goal, Nigeria regained control of the match. However, Japan managed to maintain a slim advantage until halftime.

Five minutes of the second half began, the Japanese immediately doubled the lead. Substitute, Hanae Shibata, who passed some Nigerian defender sweet feed into the penalty box that successfully utilized to perfection by Asuka Nishikawa.

Winning two goals, Japan has not stopped attacking defense Nigeria. Preoccupation attack, Japan struck by Oparanozie scored a free kick in the 73rd minute and make the game run more interesting.

Lucky though kept caged Nigeria, Japan successfully defended advantage until the game ends. The success of a third place is the best achievement of Japan's long involvement in the Women's World Cup U-20.
